The AG-AF100 is the first camcorder to support the Micro Four Thirds interchangeable lens system. It’s due for release late in 2010

Revolution will be televised

At the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) event in Las Vegas today, Panasonic made an announcement that may be turned into one of the biggest news item in the imaging industry this year.

Japanese electronics company launched the AG-AF100, video cameras that have interchangeable lens capability through the lenses Micro Four Thirds mount. Micro Four Thirds developed jointly by Olympus and Panasonic with so far only used in camera image whose main goal has been silent.

This is a revolutionary step as videocams most in the market – primarily targeted at consumers and amateur filmmakers – do not allow users to change the lens. The fact that Panasonic has chosen to implement such systems in the AG-AF100 show format can exceed the Micro Four Thirds digital camera.
Technical Details

The AG-AF100 has a Four Thirds sensor in 16:9 aspect ratio and 1080i resolution video capture in a variety of frame rates (60i, 30p and 24p for NTSC markets, and 50i, 25p and 24p for PAL region). AVCHD format video encoded at 24Mbps and thanks to the card slot dual-SDHC/SDXC cameras, Panasonic claims that users can record up to 12 hours of video SDXC two 64GB cards.

Other features include AG-AF100 is a built-in neutral density filter, HD-SDI out, HDMI, recording time code, two XLR microphone inputs and stereo.

View

Pricing was not announced at the NAB trade show, but the Japanese company has said it will ship AF100-AG at the end of 2010. We await its release on the market soon and as an option for amateur filmmakers.

Like the cheaper XF300, the XF305 has 50Mbps full HD recording on to CompactFlash cards and an 18x wide-angle zoom lens. This up-spec model also features jacks for HD-SDI output, genlock and SMPTE time code.

When first announcing the Canon codec MPEG-2 pro last February, it is clear that company eventually prepare solid-state line of products for professional camcorders and, of course, the company followed up with several models to add / replace two years HDV model, the AU and 11,500 USD XH G1S AU $ 6500 XH A1S. The new CompactFlash-XF300 XF305-friendly and offer more compact, but heavier, redesigned body with some much better features.

Of course, the main attraction was moved to CompactFlash – they support UDMA – with dual slots. There is an SDHC slot on the body, but that’s for transferring images and settings.

Codec Canon’s new XF, a name now makes sense, encode MPEG-2 4:2:2 color sampling at the maximum bit rate of 50 megabits per second. The camcorder can handle a variety of resolutions and frame rates, especially the maximum 1080/60i/30p/24p and 720/60p/30p/24p – which will no doubt be 1080/50i/25p/24p and 720/50p / 25p/24p for the region PAL. These files use the MXF wrapper for compatibility software.

Both models, like their older relations, differing only by a series of jack that makes XF305 suitable for multi-camcorder (broadcast) environment: HD-SDI output, genlock and time code SMPTE (in / out). Canon has upped the resolution, now fitted with a trio of 1920×1080 CMOS sensors, and lenses from 20x to 18x fell wider-angle models with a variety of 35mm-equivalent 29,3-527.4 mm and theoretically more pronounced focus manually.

This lens also includes image stabilization advances which made its debut in 2010 HFS series Canon consumer models, which provide better compensation to shake while the operator is in motion. Also like a prosumer model, the twins XF uses Canon’s DIGIC DV image processor III, which supplies some of the traditional consumer features, such as face detection.

LCD and viewfinder positive votes luxury. LCD is 4 inches diagonally with a resolution of 1.23 megapixels, while the 0.52-inch viewfinder, although the boy is smaller than 0.57-incher on the XH models, has a resolution of 1.55 megapixels.
View

Despite the price, the availability and delivery dates are still yet to be announced for Australia, both models are scheduled to ship to North America in June, where XF300 which will retail for U.S. $ 7,000 (AU $ 7,500), and XF305 for U.S. $ 8000 (AU $ 8,580). That’s pretty steep considering that their entry-level Canon models of solid-state; Panasonic, Sony and JVC all have cheaper entry level, though not on Canon offers a high bitrate. Maybe Canon see all the indie filmmakers who normally would be snapping up spectators XF300′s EOS 5D Mark IIS?

Shoot like a pro with the HDR-FX7 High Definition Handycam(R) camcorder. Capture amazing video and still images in high definition with the first HDV 1080i 3 CMOS sensor consumer-level camcorder and player in the world. The three – 1/4″ ClearVID CMOS Sensors provide stunning detail and precision, while a 20x Optical Zoom Carl Zeiss Lens maintains image clarity. Since the HDR-FX7 records video in high-definition, you can dual record still images at the same time. So no matter what the occasion, the HDR-FX7 is the perfect camcorder for the situation.

A Sony developed Real Time MPEG Encode/Decode system with reduced energy consumption and compact size to fit inside a personal camcorder. This provides efficient MPEG2 compression, and recording and playback of clear HD images at the same bit rate of the DV format, so that High Definition video can be recorded on the same cassettes as are used for MiniDV recording.

From the authority in lens technology, the Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens provides a high-quality 20x optical zoom which maintains image clarity and color while reducing glare and flare. Dual independent zoom and focus rings provide precise and detailed control over the amount of zoom and the overall focus of the image with just a turn of the rings. Fast, intuitive framing when zooming, and finely detailed focusing is easy with the natural “feel” of the rings. Easily adjust the amount of light entering the lens by adjusting exposure brightness in accordance with the iris and gain. The Iris control allows the volume of light to be adjusted (shutter speed and gain are adjustable). Though not small enough to carry with you to Disney, this camcorder opens up new opportunities for serious amateur and semi-professionals to record videos suitable for play on new widescreen HDTV sets. An IEEE1394 iLink port is provided for easy transfer to a PC or Macintosh for professional editing applications.
